All LEEP workshops are part of the ten-day program and are not offered individually.

Assistance with creating a resume, or updating an existing resume, specifically for the area of employment you are interested in. (Also available in a one-on-one setting, at our main office, 10th Avenue office or youth buildings; and to participants under 18 in groups of two or more.)

What to expect in a job interview, how to prepare and tips for how to answer common interview questions. (Also available in a one-on-one setting, at our main office, 10th Avenue office or youth buildings; and to participants under 18 in groups of two or more.)

The basics of how to budget and effectively handle your money.

Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) certification required for anyone responsible for traffic control (specifically ‘STOP’ and ‘SLOW’ signage) on a job site.

Certification in the transportation or handling of dangerous goods within Canada by road.

Interactive workshop where participants share and discuss their best tips for keeping a job.

Discussion of record suspensions, record searches, bonding, human rights legislation, and addressing interview questions related to having a criminal record. (Also available in a one-on-one setting, at our main office, 10th Avenue office or youth buildings; and to participants under 18 in groups of two or more.)

Information and resources exploring trades/apprenticeships, accessing post-secondary, starting a business, volunteering etc. (Also available in a one-on-one setting, at our main office, 10th Avenue office or youth buildings; and to participants under 18 in groups of two or more.)

Off-site classroom certifications:

The following classroom certifications take place at either AIP Safety (5716 Burbank Road SE) or Fast Labour Solutions (619-B 36 Avenue NE).

Oil Sands Safety Association certification in the use of fall protection equipment. (AIP Safety, expires after three years.)

OSSA certification specific to identifying and preventing hazards while working in confined spaces and other related topics. (Fast Labour Solutions)

Full day forklift operator training for those with no previous experience. (AIP Safety, expires after three years.)

Half-day forklift operator training for those with previous experience. Previous certification is not required. (AIP Safety, expires after three years.)

Hydrogen sulfide exposure safety training. (AIP Safety, expires after three years.)

Two-day workshop to learn First Aid Level C including CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) training. (AIP Safety, expires after three years.)

Online certifications:

Online certifications can be completed on personal computers, at the library, or at our main office lab.

Certification in safe food handling/preparation meeting Canada Food Safety guidelines. (Through Canadian Food Safety Group, expires after five years.)

Certification for serving and selling of alcoholic beverages; training adheres to Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission regulations. (Through Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, expires after five years.)

Basic overview of safety in a construction job setting. Areas of instruction include WHMIS, PPE and fall protection. (Through the Alberta Construction Safety Association.)

Workplace Hazardous Information System certification addressing safe storage, labeling and use of hazardous materials on a work site. (Through AIX Safety, expires after three years.)

Overview of safety measures when working with petroleum and/or on an oil and gas job site. (Through Energy Safety Canada, formerly known as Enform. Expires after three years.)

Training that meets federal dangerous goods handling/transporting legislation in Canada. (Through the Canada Safety Council, expires after three years.)
